In response to systemic and structural barriers facing the Black community, specifically Black men and boys, the sparks foundation has a generational commitment to build direct services and support to preserve the legacies and futures of Black men.
We are thrilled to announce the latest Beer Kulture initiative, the Sparks Foundation.
The program, named after the late D. "Sparks" Massenburg, is inspired by his life and dedication to beating the odds of his past to create a life worth the promise of tomorrow. We're launching the fund in response to the systemic and structural barriers facing the Black community - specifically Black men and boys.
Black people lack the same access to traditional funding, like banks and grants, compared to people of other races. It's one of the issues that prevent more Black people from becoming entrepreneurs.
In response, Beer Kulture has formed the Sparks Foundation to fill the structural gap by granting four $5,0000 grants to four deserving Black men every year. These grants will help the recipients convert their business visions into realities.
With this initiative, Beer Kulture is making a generational commitment to build direct services and support to preserve the legacies and futures of Black Men.
The Sparks Foundation application period will be February, May, August, and November of each year. The first grant will be given this August.
The funding for the Sparks Foundation will come from Beer Kulture partner kollaborations and the generous donations of our supporters. The initial funding came from the recent Peach on a Beach kollaboration with Longmont, CO-based Primitive Beer Co. Proceeds from our next kollab with Primitive, A Toast to Legends, will also go toward the Sparks Foundation. Watch for more details on that coming soon!

A Toast To Legends
A kollaboration with Beer Kulture & Primitive Beer Co.
A Toast to Legends is a 5.3% ABV blend of two and three-year matured Méthode Traditionnelle spontaneous beer rested on Colorado Allstar Peaches and Noyaux (peach pits) in fresh Château Montelena Chardonnay barrels. Colorado Wildflower Honey was incorporated as the priming sugar for bottle refermentation to complement the 100% Colorado-grown ingredient terroir for the beer.
The combination of ripened freshly picked peaches with the warm nuttiness provided by the peach pits coalesce with soft French oak and the residual barrel flavors of citrus-forward white wine grapes.
